The BIONANOPOLYS project brings together 27 European partners to create an Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB), an integrated platform of transversal technologies dedicated to the transformation of biomass into sustainable nanomaterials of industrial interest, to accelerate their introduction and adoption by the market, as well as boosting nanotechnology based on raw materials of biological and sustainable origin in Europe.

To accelerate the introduction of sustainable bio-nanomaterials of industrial interest onto the market, BIONANOPOLYS will train 5 pilot plants focused on preparing nanomaterials from biomass, 3 pilot plants focused on incorporating these materials into composites, and 6 more with the aim of developing innovative bio-nanocapable products for a wide range of applications in the packaging, textiles, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and food sectors. These developments will be implemented on an industrial scale in 8 partner companies from different sectors, in order to demonstrate the viability of the results obtained on the market. It is in this industrial-scale development that Danipack is involved, with its high level of know-how and experience in the flexible food packaging sector.

This project is one of the tools for achieving the main objective of the European Green Deal: to be the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050.
